Twitter Working on Archiving Your Tweets

Ever wondered what you have tweeted exactly a year ago, but cannot seem to find it on Twitter? That is because you could only access a few thousand tweets on Twitter, but that may change. The microblogging service is looking for a way to let users export and download their old tweets into a single file.

Such a feature is also available in Facebook, where users can download a file with all their data. There are also third-party services, such as oldtweets, that lets people search for the first messages ever posted on Twitter.

However, CEO Dick Costolo informs users that it will take time before they could archive their tweets for posterity. “It’s a different way of architecting search, going through all tweets of all time,” he told reporters. “You can’t just put three engineers on it.”
